Body Systems

The human body can be thought of as a complex machine. Like any machine, it may be divided into separate systems that each performs part of the overall function. One of these systems is the circulatory system that moves blood carrying oxygen, nutrients, chemical signals, and waste through the body using a series of vessels. Another system is the nervous system that uses the brain, spinal cord, and nerves to control voluntary and involuntary bodily functions.

Various systems of the body are examined using an engineering perspective in this bio lexicion.

  • Digestive system
  • Endocrine system
  • Immune system
  • Integumentary system
  • Lymphatic system
  • Muscular system
  • Nervous system
  • Reproductive system
  • Skeletal system
  • Urinary system
